He broke up with me today.

I’ll admit it. I sensed it was coming as we sat and talked. There were clues. “It’s been 7 ½ years now,” he said. (That’s when we first met, under difficult circumstances.) It’s been an important relationship for me, but it has run its course. I’ve changed.

“Are you breaking up with me?” I asked. He smiled behind his mask and said, “You’re cured. Cancer-free!” My oncologist and I agreed it was the BEST kind of break-up.

So, I left. Sat in my car for a time. The sun was shining intensely on my face. Tears of gratitude began to flow. Much has changed in my world … in OUR world … since my Breast Cancer diagnosis in 2013. It’s a hard time right now for so many of us. This morning I was reminded that I have MUCH to be grateful for.

In deep gratitude today for ... the support of my family, friends and colleagues who traveled that challenging road with me; the breakthroughs of Science; the skill of my amazing medical team; the prayers and healing energy put forth on my behalf by so many; the blessings from God; the gifts of personal growth and insights that came along the way. And for life.

“All the adversity I've had in my life, all my troubles and obstacles, have strengthened me.” (Walt Disney)
