“The darkest hour is just before the dawn.”

In the early morning hours of August 21, 2013 … eight years ago today … I reported to Intermountain Medical Center for what would be a 12+ hour surgery. I was undergoing treatment for Breast Cancer.

That same year, 2013, my Mom was also treated for Breast Cancer, and we share the same extraordinary doctor, Erika Lloyd. (Quite the Mother-Daughter bonding activity, right?!)

Fast forward eight years to today, August 21 of 2021. A VERY different kind of day! Mom (now 92) and I enjoyed the production of Always Patsy Cline at the Hale Centre Theatre. Incredibly well performed and such great fun!

Grateful for the opportunity to spend a delightful afternoon with my Mom. Grateful we are BOTH in good health and cancer-free. Grateful for the Science, and the medical professionals, and The Creator, who helped make that so.

It’s likely no surprise that I prefer my August 21st experience in 2021 over that of 2013. But I am profoundly grateful for that incredibly challenging day eight years ago. I had to go through THAT day to get to THIS day.

“The darkest hour is just before the dawn.”

Feeling blessed … and feeling SO much gratitude!
